Romance is in the Air

Treat your special someone to a romantic getaway this year at a San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo concert, a quiet dinner for two or an evening on the River Walk.

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥February 14th brings Tenth Avenue North to entertain at the SA Stock Show and Rodeo. Performance  begins around 7pm but you can plan a full day at the Stock Show or stop at one of San Antonio's fine eateries for an early bite before the concert.  The rodeo link above will give details about the entertainers so you can see if they fit your style.  Note:  This may not be YOUR idea of romance but just ask A COWBOY.

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥Several restaurants in and around town provide the perfect ambiance for a amorous night together.  Here's a few suggestions:  note-the restaurant name is a link that will bring you to their website where you can get menus, prices, hours and directions.

30 minutes, just N of downtown at 313 E Houston
One of the famous Brazilian steakhouses that serve wonderfully fresh vegetables and salads of your choosing plus continuous dining on their never ending selection of prime Brazilian prepared meats.
All meals are one price, around $42 and include all but dessert and beverages.  A novel way to store and serve their premier wines too, but I won't spoil the surprise.
JUST OUT:  If you want to do LUNCH (11am to 2pm) here on 2/14/2012 I have a coupon for a free dessert at the Hidden Valley office .

Downtown 20 minutes to 849 E Commerce St
Even though this is another Brazilian steakhouse, it bears mention.  Just as delicious as the previous and equally ambient atmosphere.  Very similar in price as well.

30 minutes, 281N to Hildebrand exit to 5800 Broadway
Relaxing scene, consistently good food and a bar stocked with the best tequila.

  • Lush patio and fountains
  • Hacienda inspired architecture
  • Several private rooms
With its whispering palms, flowering landscape, fireplace and hacienda-inspired architecture, Paloma Blanca is truly an oasis for the mind and spirit, right in the heart of San Antonio. Sample their diverse menu, however, and you will also find that Paloma Blanca delivers on the promise of its surroundings--exceptional cuisine is found there.
In addition to beautiful dining rooms, you'll enjoy the lively cantina with its leather sofas and fireplace, as well as the beautifully landscaped aire libre dining areas. So whether you desire drinks by the fireplace, appetizers by a soothing fountain, or a leisurely dinner on the the terrace, you can find it all at Paloma Blanca Mexican Cuisine.
***Did you just really want to get away from it all and spend time with your special someone right in the RV?  Paloma Blanco will also put together your meal to go.  I know people who've done this and their 'food on the fly' menu is superb.

30 minutes from Hidden Valley, 281 North of downtown in the Quarry Center, 255 E Basse Rd.
J. Alexander's is a contemporary American restaurant, known for its wood-fired cuisine. The menu features a wide selection of American classics including prime rib of beef, steaks, fresh seafood, sandwiches and entrée salads. The menu in each restaurant includes a varied and rotating selection of features like Seafood Czarina, Tuscan Steak, Grilled Fish with Mango Papaya Salsa and Chicken Milanese. The restaurant has a full-service bar that includes an outstanding selection of wines both by the glass and bottle.

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥Of course, when it comes to a romantic setting, it is hard to beat the San Antonio Riverwalk. World class restaurants, such as Las Canarias, which is built on three levels overlooking the San Antonio River, are perfect for a Valentine’s Day brunch or dinner. A perfect end to that special day would be a river boat cruise through the Riverwalk corridor.
When the day is done, return to your Hidden Valley RV site where you've already sprinkled scented rose petals (available at the office) leading the way to a night together.  Make sure you keep the TV off and hide the computers in advance so you're not tempted when you get home (hint from my hubby.).
This just in:  The city of San Antonio is offering FREE parking at city garages and lots on Tuesday nights from 5pm on.  Valentines Day is on a Tuesday.  You can read more details about this offer HERE.

The City of Yellow Roses aka San Antonio, is also offering a savings card at the visitor website with rewards and savings at San Antonio restaurants, hotels, attractions and more.  Link to your Yellow Roses Card Here.

♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥Don't forget a romantic horse drawn carriage ride through some of San Antonio's colorful streets or the beautiful historic King William Tour.  May be a little pricy for a normal day but for a special romantic soiree it's perfect.  FIND THEIR WEBSITE HERE.
