Perhaps you've been to San Antonio in January's past and been surprised by a waterless San Antonio River. It's been annual tradition for years that the River along the River Walk in San Antonio is drained to maintain it's clarity and recover the strange collections of odd articles that are thrown into it each year. However, since 2011, changes have been made to maintain it's cleanness during the year and only some years will require the draining.
The draining was always accompanied by the Mud Fest with Mud King and Queen and in normal San Antonio tradition, it was turned into a reason to celebrate.
So now, with no Mud festival, a void was left in the event calendar and the San Antonio River folks decided..."what better way to fill it than with a Battle of the Bands." The Bud Light RiverFest Battle of the Bands is a NEW River Walk event that will take place on Saturday, January 12th. From 11am to 6pm, enjoy FREE Live Music on the Arneson Stage as local bands compete for the title of “The 2013 Official Band of the San Antonio River Walk” and $1000 cash. As The Official Band of the River Walk, they will be invited to perform at all Paseo del Rio River Walk events throughout 2013. The Battle of the Bands will be FREE to the public.
